Services.. child funeral, misscarriage & still-birth
This is one area of Hospital Chaplaincy work where we are able to be more flexible in our practice (in terms of liturgy) but also need to be more careful (due to emotional sensitivity). It is perhaps surprising that there is not more obvious sharing of practice, although there is a natural reluctance to sound like an 'expert' in the field. We all struggle with such services, and links from this page are of variable quality. It will only improve with more open sharing of material.

Church of England (Common Worship) Funeral of a Child This is the latest version of the service- with a version including Holy Communion & related theological notes
Twelve days old A good example of an individual service following the death of a twelve day old child- well laid out, including a short homily.
'A Service to Follow the Birth of a Stillborn Child, or the Death of a Newly-born Child' From The Uniting Church in Australia- a pastoral service intended to take place quite soon after the event.
Funeral Service for a Child dying near the time of birth Basic- little use apart from scripture- no reference to family input or homily
Graveside Service for a Stillborn Child Created by: Rev. Dr. Douglas K. Showalter (dougshow@cape.com)- posted on a discussion board- looks reasonably useful...
Funeral For A Stillborn Child, by Wayne Greeson Make your own mind up- does not seem ideal for most pastoral situations
Service for the Stillborn Child (from the UM Book of Worship) A good, simple service outline, with clear and simple directions
A parents eulogy for their little girl This is a good example of the sort of eulogy you may be able to let parents offer in place of a sermon
A service for the Stillborn Child Another good service outline, with excellent prayers and structure
Advice when preparing for a stillborn service & ministry This is a long page of useful messages sent to someone who was preparing for this particular type of service
Secular New Zealand Child Funeral An interesting example of a secular child funeral by celebrant Bill Logan
